Ms. Maier is frequently speaks at conferences and industry association events about how to help industry participants leverage the incredible power of online resources to help grow business.

Ms. Maier founded LocalDirective | GlobalDirective with the belief that geographically-based companies were not well-served online. Her perspectives were developed by well over a decade at a Fortune 25 information services (directory) company, including executive roles in sales operations, with responsibility for process, hiring, training, incentives, and supporting information systems for 1500 sales representatives and managers, as well as stints in senior and field-level sales management.

Her background also includes top-tier business strategy consulting for Fortune 50 companies delving into technology-based offerings, several years helping small technology companies develop strategies and executable tactics to traverse the chasm from good products to nationally scaled businesses, particularly making use of online marketing and media programs.

Ms. Maier’s educational background includes undergraduate degrees in Behavioral Economics and Sociology from Florida’s New College, and a dual Wharton MBA in Business Strategy and Information Strategies, Systems & Economics.

Advisory Council – Industry Marketing Specialist

Karen Walters is the Marketing Specialist for Gema USA Inc. in Indianapolis, IN. Gema is the global leader for powder coating equipment technology. Product offerings include manual and automatic spray guns and spray booths, cartridge and cyclone recovery systems, fast color change equipment, gun movers, control systems, pumps, hoppers and other ancillary equipment. Gema is a member of the Powder Coating Institute, National Association of Pipe Coating Applicators, Porcelain Enamel Institute, and SEMA. Gema participates in training and conferences across North America on behalf of these organizations.

Karen has been employed in the coating industry since 1989, with responsibilities ranging from Customer Service, Technical Service, Quality Control, and Product Development, to her current role in Sales & Marketing with Gema. Karen is an active member on several committees for the Powder Coating Institute and a member of the SEMA Businesswomen’s Network (SBN). Karen has B.S. in Marketing, Distribution Management, and International Studies from Indiana University.

Advisory Council – Research & New Technology

Kevin Biller began his career in powder coatings in 1978 at the Glidden Paint Company. He held various technical positions during his 15 years there including Group Leader – Automotive Coatings, and Section Leader – European Core Laboratory while he was stationed in Birmingham, England for Glidden’s parent ICI Paints. Kevin eventually moved to Herberts Powder Coatings where he was responsible for developing new technology. In 1997 Mr. Biller formed a consulting firm, Biller Technical Resources, Ltd specializing in providing technical solutions to the powder coating industry. In 1998 Kevin became President of Wabash Powder Coatings in Terre Haute, IN. In 1999 Mr. Biller acquired the majority interest in IRIS Powder Coatings, Inc. This custom manufacturer of specialty powder coatings was sold to Jamestown Powder Coatings in December 2001. Kevin was the Vice President/General Manager for Jamestown Powder Coatings in Columbus, OH until 2005.

Mr. Biller has developed a course, Powder Coatings 101 which teaches the fundamentals of powder coating formulating technology. He presents this course once or twice a year. This course has evolved into the Powder Coating Forum which includes a symposium of new technology and various hands-on demonstrations. Additionally, Kevin was the Technical Editor of Finishing Today magazine in 2006 and 2007.

Biller established the Powder Coating Research Group in 2007. This R&D laboratory provides powder coating evaluation, testing and product development. Kevin has four US Patents in powder coating technology. He has delivered numerous papers and written many articles on powder coatings. He has recently published a handbook Powder Coatings: Foundation for the Novice Formulator by BNP Media, Troy, MI.

Advisory Council – Technical, Engineering & Business Consulting

Nick Liberto is President of Powder Coating Consultants; Division of Ninan, Inc. an independent technical consulting firm located in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Nick has provided technical consultation for hundreds of companies worldwide in the powder coating industry. He has been in the powder coating industry since 1980, holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) with a Minor in Physics, and is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Connecticut.

He is the corporate representative member for PCC to The Powder Coating Institute (PCI), the Chemical Coaters Association International (CCAI), the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), the American Society of Testing Methods (ASTM), and the National Association of Surface Finishing (NASF). He currently serves on numerous technical, trade, and standards committees for these organizations.

Nick is also a contributing author and Editor of the SME "User's Guide To Powder Coating" along with writing over 400 technical and feature articles for Powder Coating Magazine, Metal Finishing Magazine, the Metal Finishing Guidebook, and Products Finishing Magazine. He is the past Editor for, and a contributing author to, the award winning “Powder Coating; The Complete Finisher’s Handbook” as published by the Powder Coating Institute. Nick also sits on the Editorial Review Board of Powder Coating Magazine. He has written several feature and Q&A columns for Powder Coating Magazine, American Electroplaters and Surface Finishers Society Journal, Products Finishing Magazine, and Powder Coated Tough Magazine.

Nick has previously held various sales, marketing, and technical positions for Ransburg-Gema Corporation and Interrad Corporation, both of which are powder application and recovery equipment companies.
